Nikon D700

Nikon D700

This is my current primary camera, and one that I expect will be in frontline service for another 3 years or so. It was purchased August 2010 and by racked up some 10,000 shots by November. This camera is as rugged as the D300 but it has numerous advantages over the 300. One of the most important to me is the higher ISO’s available. I can go up to 6400 and it looks pretty good, where as the the D300 can only go up to maybe 3200 before it starts to look pretty bad. Even 1600 starts to look pretty shabby when compared to the D700.

Another benefit is that lenses seem a bit wider. Now my 24-70 is almost the only lens I use. My 35 f2D is also much more useful.

I would strongly suggest that anyone considering the D300s also look long and hard at the D700. It has come down a lot in price since it first came out.

My particular camera has had the make and model painted over to avoid the brand concious Chinese from annoying me with commments. Additionally, I’ve taped the onboard flash down to prevent it from being released when I’ve got the camera slung over my shoulder.
